E Shed Markets, Fremantle, Australia

E Shed Markets is located in a magnificent historical warehouse building on Victoria Quay at the Fremantle Harbour in Western Australia. The markets is a stone’s throw from the Fremantle Railway Station and right next door to the Fremantle Maritime Museum and the Rottnest Ferry Terminals. It opens on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and some selected public holidays.

The warehouse building is a historic timber building known as "E" Shed that was constructed in 1929. In 1995 this shed was moved from its location alongside the river at Victoria Quay to vacant land behind B and C sheds. The shed was rotated 180 degrees in the process. Designed by Tarek Ibrahim and the construction work was done by Fini Group, including developing the building into a market.


Fremantle’s E Shed Markets attracts thousands of locals and foreign visitors. They can enjoy the sights, sounds, flavours, action and colour of Fremantle’s best waterside market. There are international food and music, local handicrafts, antiques and collectables, fashion both vintage and new, the warm aroma of a coffee. With a massive licensed alfresco terrace looking over Fremantle’s picturesque working harbour, E Shed Markets is the only waterfront market in Western Australia.

The E Shed Markets can be reached by bus or train from Perth. Frequent commuter trains from Perth City Station takes about 25 minute trip to Fremantle via Perth's western suburbs, culminating in a breath-taking view of beach, ocean and port before arriving at Fremantle station. And if you want to experience something different, travel from Perth to Fremantle on a ferry to enjoy the Swan River beautiful sceneries. You can get around most of central Fremantle for free on the (Central Area Transit) CAT Bus which runs every ten minutes during daylight hours.
