Canals of Amsterdam, Netherlands.

There are 165 canals (grachten) in Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands. The combination of these canals is more than 100 kilometers length, with 90 islands and 1,500 bridges. The three main canals (Herengracht, Prinsengracht and Keizersgracht), dug in the 17th century during the Dutch Golden Age, form concentric belts around the city, known as the Grachtengordel. Alongside the main canals are 1550 monumental buildings. There are also 2500 houseboats in Amsterdam. and many have been afloat for more than a century.  The 17th century canal ring area, including Jordaan, were listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010, contributing to Amsterdam's fame as the "Venice of the North". The Sydney Opera House is a multi-venue performing arts centre in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is one of the 20th century's most famous and distinctive buildings. Designed by Danish architect Jørn Utzon, the construction began in 1958 and was formally opened on 20 October 1973. According to UNESCO, the Sydney Opera House is a great architectural work of the 20th century that brings together multiple strands of creativity and innovation in both architectural form and structural design. “Its significance is based on its unparalleled design and construction,” UNESCO stated.
