Notre-Dame de Paris, also called Notre-Dame Cathedral is cathedral church in Paris. It is the most famous of the Gothic cathedrals of the Middle Ages and is distinguished for its size, antiquity, and architectural interest. Notre-Dame de Paris is built on the Île de la Cité (City Island) in the very center of Paris. It is quite hard to imagine the Île de la Cité without the Notre-Dame Cathedral.  France is the most visited country in the world and the Notre-Dame Cathedral is the most visited monument within the Paris city limits, not Eiffel Tower. Towering at a height of 69 meters (226 feet), the cathedral is one of the most important landmarks of the French Capital. The construction began in 1163, during the reign of King Louis VII, and was completed in 1345.
